Boardshorts represent more than 70% of our short offer we can easily says that it is the most important part of our shorts market share
Did the boardshort category get spared by the COVID aftermath (costs of materials&shipping, innovation)?
Not really, our boardshort line is pretty minimal so we manage it quite well. The shipping is always an issue and we have faced a bit of delay on several product categories.
What are the main design trends of SS23 in the shorts category? (boardshort, walkshort and beachshort overall)?
At Dakine we create trusted gear that is purpose-built for our global community of surfers. We build and nurture deep relationships with our rider-driven Ohana, and aim inspire everyone to join us in the water. So boardshorts and sun protection are the main clothing categories.
What the stories behind your SS23 boardshort collection?
Protection has been the primary purpose of Dakine’s Surf gear since day 1. Our SS23 line continues the legacy. Sun Protection is one of the most important areas of focus for our riders today and we elevate the functional purpose from head to toe. Comfort and functionality is key in our boardshort collection. This collection includes a hand painted range of organic prints inspired by the energetic ocean waves, shores and deltas, bringing vitality and movement to each unique print.

We position ourselves in between 70€ and 90€ recommended public price.

How did you mix the synthetic/natural fabrics in your offer?
Our products are mainly made 4 way stretch synthetic fabrics.
When it comes to sustainability, what do you bring to the table?
We tend to more and more use 4 way stretch recycled fabrics, we use PCF free water resistant finish. Also like the rest of the product categories at Dakine, we like to design robust product that will last long. This is the first step of sustainability.
