Retail Buyers Guide:  Mens Outerwear FW24/25 Retail Buyer’s Guide

Interviewee: 686 Brent Sandor

What is the overall theme behind your 2024/25 outerwear range? From which big trends do you take your inspiration?
Rider driven fits and colorations permeate the collection. We looked to the riders more than ever in this season. You will see simpler colors, bigger fits, updated gloves/mitts and a new beanie collection by Autumn Headwear.

What new fits / silhouettes are coming out in 2024/25? What pant and jacket styles are most important in your range?
Our key fits continue to be loose, but not ridiculously oversized. There is an amount of just right that riders like Forest Bailey, Tommy Gesme and Gigi Rüf are looking for. Our GORE-TEX ATV Kit (Gigi signature) is one of the baggier 3L kits on the market and has been adopted by all of our younger backcountry riders who are a part of changing the face of backcountry boarding for the future – Mason Lemery, Blake Moller and Keegan Hosefros. The most important pant in the range continues to be the Dojo Pant. We offer this in multiple fabrics in 20K including a green denim as well as durable nylon GORE-TEX fabrics. We are seeing both men and women wearing this pant in all terrains as we see pants continue to gain ground on bibs, especially in park, street and resorts.

What new colours / prints are you introducing?
Our new Sage is a key color for both men and women. It is neutral, timeless, but still makes a statement. We also continue to see interest from men and women in our dusty pinks, which this year is called Antler. We are not relying heavily on prints, however we have a unique print for Gigi Rüf designed by his friend Lukas Goeller. Red is also trending with the athletes as it is classic, but pops in the backcountry.

Any *NEW* technical stories with regards to fabrics and materials?
We are moving to C0 DWR in almost all of our styles for this season.

What are your top marketing stories for 2024/25? (This will help us to put some focus in the right place.)
As noted above, Forest Bailey’s Dojo Collection continues to be the pant of choice for all 686 riders and for those without sponsors. Go to any spot and you are sure to see a Dojo Pant there. The 3L GORE-TEX ATV collection by Gigi continues to gain ground with its unique silhouette. Our Ghost Pant and Anorak are affordable baggy pieces, including a Welcome Skateboards collab colorway, that has taken the market by storm and sold out immediately in year 1.

Key/Hero pieces

Dojo Pant – THE PANT OF CHOICE for riders across the globe. Designed by Forest Bailey to be baggy, but not overly huge. The pant is designed to look incredible on film and feel good when riding. It is available in both 20K and GORE-TEX fabrics including a 20K denim and our new GORE-TEX Sage colorway.

Ghost Pant and Jacket – An affordable 2.5L linerless pant and anorak make for all conditions. The pants sold out in their initial year and we have added an Anorak to match. Both the pants and anorak feature durable 500D nylon panels in key abrasion areas to provide added life vs other 2.5L pants and jackets in similar lower price points. The Ghost also features a Welcome Skateboard guest collaboration colorway as well as a Corduroy fabric kit.

The GORE-TEX 3L ATV collection is designed by Gigi to be the go to for our backcountry team. Possibly the baggiest 3L on the market, the ATV bib is a fisherman style pant that is perfect for touring, sledding and resort and has a complimentary jacket.
