Are your products targeted to specific customers / rider types? We built Bunner for those who are equally passionate about nature and cruising down snowy mountains as we are and it is designed to tackle the challenges of all-mountain freeriding. Nothing is left to chance. Every detail is meticulously designed to support a stellar experience on the slopes. Good and bad days alike. Long days of hard riding demands unrivalled comfort, and every step has been taken to provide an optimized fit, while ensuring our ridiculously high safety requirements are met.Carefully constructed and engineered using only the finest bio- and recycled materials, Bunner offer a vastly reduced environmental footprint while never compromising on performance, quality, or safety. Creating a new standard for personal protection, looking out for people and planet.
How are you segmenting your 2023/24 snow helmets and where do you expect the biggest growth?
We are not at this point as we come to the market with one pinnacle style with a new level of sustainable thinking this year. We expect this to go well with cutting edge retailers who like strong, new stories and want to stay in the forefront on the product side. We will certainly expand the program with new styles and pricepoints in seasons to come.
Do you have any innovations in terms of design or materials for 2023/24?
Bunner incorporates the latest Mips and Recco tech for additional safety. Stuff we know make a difference out there. The contemporary design also features proprietary ORM 3D fit and Variable Airflow systems, easily managed on the go. As for materials we have an array of different exciting things going, the main one being our bio-based polyamide shell, specifically developed for our helmet program. It’s made from sustainably farmed castor oil and provides top end impact resistance at a slightly lower weight than conventional materials. The Bunner also features a merino wool comfort liner, a host of different recycled components including the EPS impact absorbant as well as bio-based detailing.
What colours and designs are you featuring in your 2023/24 collection? Any standout collaborations?
For 23/24 we are keeping with the volume drivers, Black, Cool Grey and Olive Green, focusing fully on the outstanding design, features and amazing materials used.
Are you implementing sustainability in your products and production processes?
Yes, that’s the thing that sets Spektrum apart- every product we do is more sustainable than their conventional counterparts. All the main materials and plastic details in our helmets, goggles and sunglasses are biobased, made from responsibly grown castor oil. A vast majority of the materials we are unable to get bio-based are recycled. When we can, we also inject our dye into the raw material rather than paint it on, saving workers and planet from unnessecary solvents and chemicals. These initiatives and more drastically reduces our carbon emissions and the footprint we leave on our planet. Apart from the product side we also look at our logistics and other key aspects of our business, as well as collaborations and memberships with P.O.W. and 1% For The Planet
Are you offering any accessories to your helmets?
Spektrum’s focus up until now has been eyewear – goggles and sunnies, so we have a lot of great stuff to match.
How are you supporting retailers to sell this category?
We support motivated retailers by informing consumers about our brand and our story locally on social media and pointing them to our retailers for purchase rather than driving the traffic to our webshop. We believe in retail and it’s our focus going forward. We also offer POS material and offer education and clinics
Is your production impacted by raw material scarcity or cost increase? If so, what solutions have you put in place?
At this point we are not experiencing any disturbance in terms of materials. Mainly because we use unique materials and don’t compete with everyone else about supply.
