Evoc Snow Protection 2024/25 Preview

Retail Buyers Guide:  Snow Protection FW24/25 Retail Buyer’s Guide
Brand:  Evoc
Interviewee: Jan Sallawitz – Head of Marketing

What are the main customers’ demands when buying snowboarding protection?
Certified aka reliable protection and comfort are the main demands from our perspective – they want protection that they can trust on and don´t want to be affected in any way while wearing it. Ideally customers don´t even realise that they wear a protection piece during their whole day in the snow.

Do you target specific customers / rider types?
Although we target the ambitious freestyle segment in our visual communication we thinks protection wear makes sense for everybody on skis or snowboards – young to old! You are always moving with a certain amount of speed that creates a lot of momentum and energy that can have very negative consequences when things go wrong. Be it a crash on icy ground or a collision – you better be protected! A close to 100% quota of helmets proves that there is an understanding to protect the vital pars of your body. So why not protecting your spine, too?

Which products sold best from your 2023/24 collection and why?
Our PROTECTOR VEST MEN/ WOMEN/ KIDS.Because of outstanding and certified protection properties of our LITESHIELD PROTECTION TECHNOLOGY and very functional outer fabrics for a lot of comfort – with a very good price point for retailers.

What product type do you expect to grow the most?
We think our PROTECTION WEAR in general. Maybe a little bit over proportional in the kids´ segment. Here we see a growing awareness of parents…

What are the design and material highlights of your 2024/25 collection?
We´ll continue our approach of manufacturing functional sports underwear with integrated protectors at the right places to provide a maximum in functionality and comfort.Material-wise it is definitely the use of coffee we incorporate in 2 ways: 1. As an more eco-friendly alternative for odour control finish. 2. As a part of the fibre mix of the recycling based outer fabric where coffee grounds are fused with recycled PET

Are you implementing sustainability in your products and production processes?
We don´t really like the word sustainable as this is not really what our whole industry is about and misleads customers to some extend. Producing products for wintersports can never never sustainable in the bigger picture – period! But in doing so, we have an exposed responsibility to do whatever is possible to reduce our footprint. So we have started a long process to monitor what our effects are and what we can do better in the long run a couple of years ago.  Of course this affects all kinds of aspects of our production process but a lot of other dimensions, too. As this might lead a bit too far here, i´d like to focus on the products of our line of PROTECTION WEAR:

We are using a comprehensive approach balancing the environmental footprint, function, and durability of the products. In the process, we are implementing and extending the use of alternative and resource-efficient materials, treatments and finishes as coffee or a fusion of coffee grounds an recycled polyesters, for example.

  • We fully commit to the development of a cradle-to-cradle recycling. We work together with leading partners for mechanical and chemical recycling and can “close the gap” for polyester, already.
  • We offer the service to take back all of our PROTECTION WEAR at the end of product life and recycle it.

What are your marketing stories for 2024/25?
As the touring backpack SUMMIT is our highlight it will be mainly about winterly alpine challenges. But of course all about our new PROTECTION WEAR and it´s fabrics and the recycling opportunities will be part of our stories.

How are you supporting retailers to sell this category?
We will have extensive information and visualisations, as well as graphic animations, available for retailers to explain and communicate the product. Apart from extensive information material we have a retail program with a modular, individually customisable display system, sales promotion concepts, presentation aids, and sales tools with a large complementing selection of graphics, pictures, and product information. When it comes to digital support, we’ve upgraded our B2B shop and integrated an extensive download centre where you have 24/7 access to all digital media assets like pictures, videos, texts, guidelines etc. And we’re also working on further expanding and making our instruction material more serviceable and easier to consume for retailers and their sales staff.

What is your situation regarding stock and deliveries?
Everything pretty smooth and up & running after the COVID times…
