Retail Buyers Guide: Foil S/S 2025 Retail Buyer’s Guide
Brand: Norden
Interviewee: Andy Wirtz / CEO / product designer
What sport is driving the most demand at the moment (kite, wind, wing, surf…) and why?
It´s definitely wing-foiling. It´s the easiest to learn and most accessible form of foiling and can be done everywhere where there is water…almost the same craze as windsurfing once was. With some sort of board sports background almost anybody can do it.
Which of your 2024 foil set ups have sold best and why?
What are the main trends in foil construction, materials and design?
What are the highlights of your 2025 foil offer?
We don´t offer foils but partner with www-taaroa-hydrofoil.com and their product range.
Which of your 2024 foilboard set ups have sold best and why?
It is definitely beginner boards between 110-130l in a wood sandwhich construction, which is very avordable and durable. The sport is still at the beinning and we are feeding off new people coming to the sport. Also with all the leftovers floating in the market, these type of boards where not available as much as like 65-90l boards, where there is still tons of left overs available.
What are the main trends in Foilboard construction, materials and design?
Construction wise we offer 2 types, a full carbon/ pvc wrap which is light and strong, and a wood/ sandwich construction which is strong, not too heavy and avordable. Overall the board design is changing a bit since the downwind boards have come along, now the midlength ranges which is a similar design, just a little bit shorter and we see the same shift also with the new surf and wingboards. You just don´t need to have that much width anymore to create a stable board, the foil also offer enough stability and comfort for riding.
What are the highlights of your 2025 foilboard offer?
Our Board Range is called “Futurama” with the small/ short models being surf foilboards which can also we ridden with the wings, the middle/ midlength range are wingboards then transition into the larger models being lightwind wing/ downwind SUP boards and the longest model being a pure downwind board, so one range with 3 different segments. For the beginners we have the Futurama Starter which is a beginner board which can be ridden longer then just for the beginning, just a pure large Wingboard which is also fun for all levels.
How have you implemented sustainability in your production and shipping processes?
We stick to our plan, using the best materials available to create boards in the very best quality because products that last are the only once that a realy sustainable. We only use construction methods that have proven best results over many years, no experimentes with our consumers. All boards are packed in 100% cardboard and paper materials, we don´t send our customers blank cut offs in their boxes, we are using no single use plastic packaging.
How will you support retailers to sell your 2025 products?
We offer a simple, non confusing range of products available from stock, to be preordered in small quantities or drop shipped to their customers and offer a realistic margin. We try to avoid leftovers in the future. We offer demos if needed.
