Brand:  Dakine
Interviewee: Marketing Team

Which technical snowpacks sold best in the winter 2023/24 and why?
Our bestsellers for winter 2023/24 included the Heli Pro series. These packs excelled due to their lightweight durability and specialized features like avalanche gear compartments, making them essential for high-altitude and backcountry adventures. Consumer feedback highlighted a preference for versatile packs that perform reliably in extreme conditions.

Are you feeling the impact of climate challenges (unpredictable conditions, snow at higher altitudes, more expensive costs) on your product demand and development?
Yes, changing climate conditions are impacting both demand and product development. With snow shifting to higher altitudes, there’s a growing need for robust, lightweight materials and better insulation. Rising production costs are also prompting us to innovate with sustainable materials that can withstand these unpredictable conditions.

What are the technical highlights in construction and materials of your 2025/26 collection?
In our 2025/26 collection, we’re introducing advanced technical construction with reinforced lightweight composites and waterproof, breathable fabrics. These materials enhance durability while maintaining a lightweight design. Key highlights include ergonomic support systems for comfort during long treks and eco-friendly finishes.

What color palettes, prints or patterns are you featuring in your 2025/26 collection?
A lot of great things in terms of color palettes, prints… in our 2025/26 collection! We continue to use a lot of solid colors on many of our products, a lot of black, grey, blue but we also try to play with our materials like the “Mulled Basil”. Nevertheless, a number of collaborations and therefore several special colors will be featured: the Jamie Anderson Signature Series, continuing to support B4BC Association with the “Kingdom black” color, our Mayhem collab with the “Mayhem griffin” and the Natural Selection collab with the “NST black”.

Which technical snowpacks do you expect the most growth from  in 2025/2026 and why?
We anticipate strong growth in modular snowpacks designed for both recreational and professional users. With the increasing popularity of split-boarding and backcountry skiing, packs with customizable storage and safety features are expected to gain traction, appealing to a wider range of mountain enthusiasts.

How are you implementing sustainability in your products and production processes?
Sustainability is central to our approach. We’re increasing the use of recycled fabrics, eco-friendly water repellents, and durable materials that extend product life. Additionally, we are optimizing production to minimize waste and energy consumption across our facilities.

What are your marketing stories for 2025/26?
We want to capitalize on the collections we’re carrying over for 2025/26, while developing and promoting our new models/collections. This means capitalizing on the Campus / Method / Educated / 365 Series, the J-Connection and the technical backpacks / gloves while introducing our new FORECAST MIPS HELMET and our various Signature Series (JAMIE ANDERSON / RED GERARD / KARL FOSTVEDT / KAI JONES) and collaborations (B4BC /MAYHEM/ NATURAL SELECTION).

How are you helping retailers to sell this category?
We support our retail partners with comprehensive product training, in-store displays, and digital content that communicates our products’ technical benefits. Our retailer support program also includes tools to highlight sustainability features, enhancing customer engagement and driving in-store sales.
