GNU SPLITBOARDING F/W 2025/26 PREVIEW
Retail Buyers Guide: Splitboarding F/W 2025/26 Retail Buyer’s Guide
Brand: GNU
Interviewee: Gary Gnu. Boot pack blaster
How was last season in the splitboard market?
We split for the love…we sold some too.
With the recent overall price increases, have there been any positive developments in manufacturing, sourcing, or logistics?
Split boards cost more and take more time to make…we pass the cost on to you! If materials get cheaper we buy more granola and feed the Blue Jays.
What are the major trends you’re seeing with product pricing in the splitboard market?
We are way more focused on avi conditions than pricing trends.
E-commerce Vs. physical retail, how are you balancing both channels?
We love shops and highly recommend you go in and smell the magic that only a snowboard shop can provide. Buying from a passionate knowledgeable frothy shredder is the best way to go especially when it comes to getting set up to go out into the backcountry. If someone orders a board on line from us we will ship it to them.
How are you supporting retailers to sell this category?
Temple and Cannon Cummins developed our Banked Country Split model and put hundreds of laps in on it every year. Temple and Cannon help us build the best split boards in the world we make them available to retailers and we don’t change the graphics.
What unique brand messages are you focusing on for the 2025/2026 splitboard season?
Temple and Cannon Cummins float to the top and fly to the bottom…
What about new board construction, innovation, or shape trends? Any big advancements in functionality? Skinning, transitions, etc, as well as riding? Any specific effort on ranges for 25/26? If yes, where and why?
Temp is an absolute boss in the backcountry in every way…fast climbing, fast transitions, fast descents, delicious snacks, every run no tracks. We trust him and his son to develop the best shapes/designs possible and work with our engineering team to bring it to life. We are carrying the Banked Country Split over this year. It is 20 plus years in development and refinement and is basically backcountry perfection. We build our own damn boards right here in Sequim Washington, USA.
Are you using any new materials in your splitboard for 25/26? If so, what, and why? We’re interested in anything new in inserts / edges / cores / sidewalls / glue / resin/ wood types / base material / top sheet / wax / etc..
We fine tune and experiment with our Gnus every day at the factory…the Banked Country splits are perfectly tuned for all day backcountry action.
Any new design or pattern approaches in your 25/26 gear? Any collabs on the line?
We try and stay safe and ride with friends…if you can score a ride in the morning and put the dead on with that coffee usually things work out above expectations.
