Retail Buyers Guide: Splitboarding F/W 2025/26 Retail Buyer’s Guide
Brand: Korua
Interviewee: Jerry Niedermeier, Co-Founder
What about new board construction, innovation, or shape trends? Any big advancements in functionality? Skinning, transitions, etc, as well as riding? Any specific effort on ranges for 25/26? If yes, where and why?
As always, we are working to fine-tune our line up and expand on our Split offerings. We are super excited to release the new “Elevator” split shape in 2025, which is an evolution of the Elevator Split, that is even lighter, offers more uphill grip and better ability to ride switch, thanks to a bit more tail kick. It’s basically a swiss pocket knife offering a tool for anything you may encounter like, powder, ice corn, and everything between. It offers lift in pow, and incredible grip on the uphill being the most uphill-focused board we have in the line. Nicholas has been developing this with Jerry for the past years, and it will be available in 62 and 57 versions for now, although there is talk of a shorter version.
Are you using any new materials in your splitboard for 25/26? If so, what, and why? We’re interested in anything new in inserts / edges / cores / sidewalls / glue / resin/ wood types / base material / top sheet / wax / etc..
While developing this shape we’ve also introduced a brand new, specifically developed sidecut for splitboards, that provides way more grip on those icy traverses providing more safety and energy preservation. After extensive Testing and Development with our suppliers we’ve also found what we believe to be the most snow-repellent topsheet on the market. We are taking these new findings from the Elevator Split, to see how we can expand our Split line offerings even further in the future — offering a variety of split specific shapes, or improvements to existing shapes that have been transformed to be Splitboards as well (Ie. the Transition Finder Split).
How was last season in the splitboard market?
Even though the industry saw a dip in Splitboard sales after the rapid growth during the pandemic years, we feel that it is coming back and will find a healthy balance moving forward. We’re as stoked as ever for human-powered adventures, and drawing lines on untouched slopes in the Alps and beyond, so we’ll continue to focus on making award-wining splitboards here at KORUA.
