Think Twice Before Chucking Your Old Bag Out, Re-Home It With Millican

Got any old bags laying around that could do with a bit of TLC? The ‘Re-Home Your Bag’ initiative by Millican invites people to send in their old bag so it can be repaired and given a new lease of life. Bags will then be re-homed at one of Millican’s social project partners.

Press Release:
Re-Home Your Bag

We want to re-home your old bags – travel companions that could carry on their journey in a new home

From backpacks to messenger bags, we all have those unwanted bags put to one side. Instead of letting them gather dust, send them to Millican HQ and we will take care of the rest, sending you a 10% discount code in exchange for your donation.

We’ll fix them up and send them back out to begin their new adventure with people who need them – supporting social projects and communities, locally and globally.

HOW IT WORKS:
Email us to receive our Freepost address, send us your bag and we’ll find a way to reuse it. You get a 10% discount code, and your bag gets a new home.

  1. Email [email protected] with your full name to receive our Freepost address.
  2. Send us your bag(s). They can be any brand, they don’t have to be Millican bags. See below T&C’s on what sort of bags we are looking for.
  3. We will then sort, repair and re-home your bag, all from Millican HQ.
  4. Once we receive your bag we will email you with your 10% discount code.
  5. We will be working with a range of non-profits and charities over the next few months to make sure they get the right bags for their projects. Once your bag has been allocated to one of these projects we will attempt to let you know.

Terms & Conditions

TYPES OF BAGS
At the moment we can only accept fabric/canvas backpacks, messenger bags and pannier bags. As much as handbags, wallets, children’s bags (plastic), leather goods and luggage (wheeled and suitcases), also deserve a new adventure, we don’t have the capacity to re-home or repair these products yet, so please take them to your local charity shop when possible.

We accept any brand, this is not only for Millican bags. Please only send bags with life left in them, our local repair team can fix minor bumps and bruises, such as patching small holes, re-attaching straps etc, but can not re-build if your bag is completely unusable. Please do not send heavily-soiled bags either, we do not have cleaning facilities at HQ.

If in doubt, please email [email protected] and we can help you decide if your bag is able to be re-homed.

SENDING YOUR BAG
For now, our Freepost address can only be used by residents within the UK (incl. Northern Ireland). We recommend that you ask for proof of postage from the Post Office before you send your bag to us, just in case your package should go missing.

Please send your bag with your full name clearly inside the package, making sure we are able to get in contact with you to send a discount code.

DISCOUNT CODE
Once your bag has been received and recorded we will email you a 10% discount code, which can be used once within an unlimited time period. Please allow up to 14 days from sending, for us to receive your bag and record its arrival.

PRIVACY POLICY
When you get in touch with us we will have to store your email address on a secure database, in order to get in touch with you once your bag has arrived and to send you a discount code. We will also email you where your bag has been sent once we have found the right charity to receive it. Your email will not be used for any other purpose. Please get in touch if you have any questions on this or if you would like us to delete your details from the system at any time.

WHO WE WORK WITH
So far, we have connected with Action for Conservation, the Bristol Bike Project and Craggers: Adventures For All, who have all received your pre-loved bags and introduced them to new homes. We are always searching for new partners and are very happy for charities or non-profit organisations to get in touch with us at [email protected] to discuss how we can work together going forward.
