What is the overall theme behind your FW 21/22 outerwear range? From which big trends do you take your inspiration?
The all-new Jones outerwear line is environmentally minded, a movement focused on technical apparel that’s designed to be extremely functional for dynamic days in the mountains. Every piece in the line also balances unrivalled performance and durability with industry-leading sustainable manufacturing and material standards.
What new fits / silhouettes are coming out in FW 21/22? What pant and jacket styles are most important in your range?
The Jones outerwear line consists of collections – the Shralpinist, Uphill and Mountain Surf Collections – plus a technical layering collection. Each of the three outerwear collections includes one jacket and one pant. The Shralpinist collection, featuring body-mapped GORE-TEX Pro fabric, is built for riding hard and pushing your limits in extreme conditions. The Uphill collection is designed for endurance days in the mountains when you’re moving all day through a wide variety of terrain and weather. And the Mountain Surf collection is our most versatile collection. It’s made to be so comfortable and functional you can wear it every day of the winter.
What new colours / prints are you bringing to the FW 21/22 collection?
We’ve chosen a combination of blacks, earth tones and safety-focused colours for the debut Jones outerwear line. The Shralpinist Jacket + Pant, the Peak Bagger Jacket and the Re-Up Down Puffy will be available in a Safety Red colourway that is designed for high visibility in the mountains.
Any *NEW* technical stories with regards to fabrics and materials?
Every piece in the Jones outerwear line is made from unique recycled fabrics and materials. The Peak Bagger Jacket in the Uphill collection is made from an especially groundbreaking fabric that we developed in partnership with Tenjin. This Jones-exclusive, four-way stretch, the soft-touch fabric offers unheard of 20K waterproof / 40K breathability and is made with 100% recycled polyester, 40D knitted face fabric and PFC-free DWR.
The Shralpinist collection features a body-mapped combination of 100% recycled GORE-TEX PRO most rugged and 100% recycled GORE-TEX PRO most breathable. The zones where you most often get wet are made with the most rugged GORE-TEX PRO fabric available, and the areas where you move and sweat are made with the most breathable GORE-TEX PRO fabric available.
The Re-Up Down Puffy in our layering collection is the first technical puffy in the world made with 100% recycled 750-fill down and a 100% recycled nylon shell. We worked with renowned recycled down supplier Allied Feathers to source the new 750-fill upcycled down feathers.
What are the three most important products in your FW 21/22 range? Why? Please tell us about them.
Peak Bagger Jacket – The Peak Bagger Jacket is a lightweight, stretch breathable shell jacket that’s built for dynamic days in the mountains. It’s made for the backcountry skier or snowboarder who wants to stay dry inside and out while moving all day through a wide variety of weather. The Peak Bagger is made from a Jones exclusive 100% recycled, four-way stretch fabric with an unheard of 20K waterproof / 40K breathability rating. The fabric was developed with Teijin and is soft to the touch, abrasion-resistant and excels in all conditions, whether cold, wet or warm. This jacket is the ultimate jacket for high output backcountry touring days in unpredictable mountain weather where all-day temperature regulation is critical.
Re-Up Down Puffy – The Re-Up Down Puffy is a workhorse utility puffy that matches unrivalled mountain performance with groundbreaking product sustainability. The Re-Up is the first puffy in the world made with 750-fill power 100% recycled down. It’s designed to be layered under a shell jacket on brisk midwinter days or worn alone at camp or around town. The Re-Up also features 100% recycled ‘Downproof’ nylon face fabric and recycled zippers plus it stows in the chest pocket for easy packability. The Re-Up was designed by Jeremy Jones and it’s on his back, or in his pack, every time he leaves the trailhead.
Shralpinist Jacket – From extreme winds and pounding snow to driving rain, the Shralpinist 3L GORE-TEX PRO Jacket will keep you comfortable in uncomfortable situations, so you can give the mountains the focus they demand. What makes this jacket so unique is its groundbreaking, body-mapped GORE-TEX PRO fabric design. The hood and arms, where you get wet, are made with the most rugged GORE-TEX PRO fabric available, and the torso, where temperature regulation is critical, is made with most breathable GORE-TEX PRO fabric available, made with 100% recycled nylon face fabric with solution-dyed backer.
