SURF SKATE

How Is the surfskate market still going strong?
The surfskate market definitely remains strong however the overall market conditions have returned to more of a normal and realistic scenario in comparison to 2021. Last year was an absolute anomaly with growth, demand, supply chain issues, rising material costs, logistics, the Thailand situation, and so on…nothing I have witnessed in 26 years of being in the skate industry. There still seems to be a business hangover going into 2022.

What are the main products in demand in the segment right now (completes etc)?
Main products continue to be complete skate boards and truck kits / sets. We have also experienced significant growth in our hardgoods accessories line of products.

What are the “stars” right now. Products you couldn’t live without?
The absolute standouts are the New Kai Lenny and Jamie O’Brien pro models in addition to our proven sellers like Channel Islands, Lost, and our artist collabs.

What are the main features on your surf skate completes?
For Carver, its always our truck systems. C7, CX, and C5. Also our new Hyperspoon mold with a deeper concave that creates a better front foot pocket for added performance and strength.

What kinds of trucks and wheels do you offer for this segment?
Carver C7 truck system is a dual axis system with more adjustability for that smooth and flowy feeling. Carver CX truck system is a single axis truck with advanced geometry making this truck more snappy and responsive. Carver also offers our signature Roundhouse Concave wheel along with our Ecothane wheel series.

Which technical features are you the proudest of?
Carver has made some recent upgrades on various truck parts to improve performance and durability including an internal locking spring nut on the C7 as well as an improved softer spring and also a special kingpin lock nut for the CX.

What are you doing with materials and tech next season?
Carver is working on the new Ghostwave model that is a step up from our Ahi model using recycled fish nets and the material.

Carver Kai Lava CX

Carver Kai Lava CX

Maui native Kai Lenny defies easy categorization, having truly mastered so many board riding disciplines that listing them all seems impossible; Surf, Hydrofoil, Kite, Windsurf, Stand Up Paddle, Prone Paddle, Outrigger Canoe, Big Wave Tow-In, and now Surfskate. Kai created this Lava pattern for his upcoming surfboardquiver and wanted to use it on this mid-sized mainstay too, pressed in the Hyperspoon mold for a deep-dish spoon nosecontoured for your carving pleasure.

Jamie O’Brien’s idea of fun would be terrifying for most of us, but growing up in front of Pipeline must have conditioned him from an early age, because he joyously puts himself in some of the burliest conditions imaginable. His wave riding skills have earned him an impressive collection of titles and recognition as an elite pro, but it’s his fun-loving antics that have endeared him to fans around the world. A surfskate to fit everyone, this classic squash tailed shape is pressed in Carver’s innovative Hyperspoon mold, which folds up on three side at the nose to hug your front foot for greater carving control.
