BARTS WOMENS SWIMWEAR S/S 2025 PREVIEW

Retail Buyers Guide:  Womens Swimwear S/S 2025 Retail Buyer’s Guide
Brand:  Barts
Interviewee: Haiqiao Hu, Head of Product & Design

What are the current industry trends in women’s swimwear?
Two of the trends that we see are an increase in attention to detail and a kind of ‘celebration’ of femininity. This means styles and shapes that complement every body type and that come in a wide variety of colours and prints. To offer something for every woman. The eye for detail is seen in, for example, the use of materials, the stitching and the comfortable fitting that accentuates the body.

What style/shape of swimwear is most popular in your range?
From our swimwear range, the shaping and sculpting one pieces are the most popular. These are available in a wide variety of prints and colours. Some colourways are made with unique BARTS prints that really stand out but there are also styles that are more basic and essential for every summer wardrobe. These are comfortable to wear and very stylish.

Which styles sold best in 2024 collection and which do you expect to grow in 2025?
Our best selling styles of 2024 were the shaping one pieces. We expect to see a growth in the sales of these same styles but in different prints/colourways than our previous collection. Another item that has sold really well is the Cross Halter Top. A top with adjustable fitting, good support and a wide availability of different styles.

What have been the major inspirations behind the designs in the 2025 range?
One of our designers is originally from Australia. Her connection to the summers Down Under and the nostalgic feeling that comes with this, serves as a major source of inspiration for this new collection. From the colourful flowers to the indigenous Aboriginal culture. It’s all part of a wave of inspiration that comes to life throughout the entire collection.

What colour palettes and prints will we find in your 2025 range? Any crossovers from other brand product categories?
The upcoming collection will feature a lot of neutral darks like navy, cedar and terra. Accompanied by some sportive brights. Such as coral red, mandarin and bright mint green. The collection is coordinated. This means that all colours and prints are complementary throughout the collection. So, for example, a colourway of a specific bikini has a kaftan or hat that goes with it.

What silhouettes are you featuring in your 2025 collection? Any construction techniques you’d like to highlight?
The silhouettes in our 2025 collection are both feminine and sporty. They are made for women to feel good about how they look and feel comfortable while doing so. The items are suitable for a day of sunbathing but also for surfing or other summer activities. For men we have a selection of comfortable shorts without a mesh lining but with a more comfortable half lining.

What materials are you using in your 2025 collection?
Our women’s collection is a carefull selected mix of shiny, matt and structured fabrics that are durable and comfortable. This improves the fit and the lifetime of our products. For the men’s collection we use a lot of fabrics that are mixed with elastane for extra comfort and durability. The majority of the swimwear collection is made out of recycled polyamide or polyester. With elastane to make the items comfortable and durable. Our beachwear items like our hats, bags and dresses are mostly made out of straw, paper and cotton.

What efforts are you making towards sustainability?
Sustainability is always high on our agenda. We are constantly looking for sustainable alternatives and try to use as much recycled polyamide fabrics as possible. For both our Men and Women items. The same goes for the packaging and the hangtags. We are trying to increase this percentage with every new collection we create.

What are your marketing stories for your 2025 collection?
The main theme of the collection is ‘Back to the roots’. Which refers to the connection with Australia that was mentioned before. This is then divided into several smaller themes. Some examples of these themes are ‘Wild Flower’ and ‘Sunburned Country’. The first is nature based theme that features flower prints and natural colours and second one is inspired by the desert and Aboriginal culture. These themes are communicated through our webstore and social media at different times throughout the season.

How will you support retailers to sell this category?
By listening to our retailers we found out what works and sells best. This collection features more of the popular styles of 2024 in new and refreshing designs. Designed with the retailers in mind. Besides their input we are also aware of the latest trends regarding swimwear and create a collection that matches these trends. Last but not least, we give our customers a chance to re-order during the season. This means they can spread the risk and adjust their buying according to the sales during the season.
