Brand: Bent Metal Binding Works
Interviewee: Paul Ferrel – Product Manager
How was last season in the snowboard binding market?
Last season was particularly amazing as we witnessed an increased demand and surge of interest in Automatic Fast Entry binding technology. We’re incredibly excited to announce a major development at BMBW in this forefront.
With the recent overall price increases, have there been any positive developments in manufacturing, sourcing, or logistics?
At BMBW, our commitment to making snowboarding accessible has driven us to keep prices steady for the 2025-2026 season, despite rising costs. We believe that everyone should enjoy the snowboarding experience without breaking the bank.
What are the major trends you’re seeing with product pricing in the snowboard bindings market?
As innovations like Automatic Fast Entry systems become more popular, there’s a trend of riders willing to spend more for products that offer superior performance and convenience, which in turn create a better rider experience during valuable time on the slopes.
E-commerce Vs. physical retail, how are you balancing both channels?
We strive to support both channels effectively, with a primary focus on physical retail stores, where most of our sales occur. Our engaging and informative e-commerce site complements this by attracting and educating customers about our brand and the products we offer.
Are you introducing any new innovations in buckles, straps, highbacks, baseplates, heel cups, etc..?
BMBW is excited to introduce the all new Lightning Supermatic® model, featuring an innovative Automatic Fast Entry system. This cutting-edge design incorporates Supermatic® technology along with some of our standout features, including the Revolutionary Cube forward lean adjuster, distinctive Footbed Graphic Slip Plate, and a Solid Power Transfer Highback. Get ready to ride the lightning!
Any new design or pattern approaches in your 25/26 gear? Any collabs on the line?
We’re excited to introduce several amazing collaborations in our new line! First up, we’ve teamed up with GNU Snowboards on our AXTION Grey/Green colorway, showcasing a classic GNU retro colorway that’s also featured on the GNU Gremlin model. This collaboration brings a fun, nostalgic vibe to our collection! Next, we’ve got something special with Lib Technologies Snowboards on the TRANSFER black colorway. This one celebrates the incredible 30-year journey of Artist Mike Parillo, who’s known for his iconic graphics at Lib. It’s a nod to both creativity and the lasting impact he’s had on snowboarding. Plus, you’ll see some of his artwork from the Lib Tech DynaSword and Dynamo snowboard on this binding! The TRANSFER model doubles up on co-labs, we’re excited to also team up with 1910, showcasing the artwork of Jamie Lynn and Schoph. This blue colorway reflects the unique graphics on the Lib Tech Jamie Lynn and Terrain Wrecker snowboard models that both Jamie and Schoph brought to life.
Any quick entry bindings in your collection for 25/26?
The Lightning Supermatic® is a new model for 25/26.
Are you planning to focus on a special product range or type of customers?
At BMBW, we help riders maximize performance with bindings tailored to their specific needs, no matter their riding style. We do this with Flex Control Drive Plates, which are a game-changer in binding performance. We’ve taken it to the next level by incorporating removable composite fiber panels in the footbed. These panels are crafted using the same advanced techniques and materials found in snowboard construction. The continuous fibers are custom-oriented to create specific flex patterns and responsiveness that traditional bindings simply can’t match. This innovative approach gives you our FLEX CONTROL ADVANTAGE, ensuring a unique riding experience. Plus, you won’t find this technology in any other bindings because its patented!
