What trends are you noticing in boardsport protection for 2023?
We’re noticing that the classic “skate style” is still really popular. Our Macon 2.0 is easily one of our bestselling helmets because of its skate inspired look.
How’re you navigating the current hardwoods overstocking issues?
Bern is navigating it as best we can. We, like others, are certainly feeling it, but we’re confident as we look ahead that overstock will not be as much of an an issue moving forward.
What are your main price points for next season in helmets, pads, protectors?
Helmets range from $49.99 to $120

How is skate participation developing and how important is protection to new riders?
More and more people are recognizing the importance of safety in skate. With many parks requiring head protection, we’re seeing customers continuing to look for helmets that match their style without feeling clunky or massive on their head.
How are you communicating safety certification and is it a must-have?
All helmets MUST meet a standard safety standard to be sold. Bern has always been focused on providing protection to help reduce the risk of traumatic brain injuries.
How are helmet designs trending (full helmets vs. lighter models)?
The design of helmets is constantly changing and evolving to lighter weight with more tech and safety features.

Which colours and graphics/ collaborations are you looking forward to for next season?
For kids it continues to be bright colors and patterns. Adults prefer neutral colors with earthy tones – and hi-viz options.
Which technical features are you the most proud of in your protective gear?
Bern has continued to create products with Mips. In addition, we have cold weather liners to be worn on colder days allowing enthusiasts to stay out there longer!
What impact technologies in helmets are you incorporating? Mips.
Are there any crossover technologies from other sports?
Depending on the helmet it can be used for bike, skate, and snow with comfort paramount no matter what sport they’re using it for.
