BOREALIS SNOWBOARDS F/W 2025/26 PREVIEW
Retail Buyers Guide: Snowboards F/W 2025/26 Retail Buyer’s Guide
Brand: Borealis
Interviewee: Ben Hall, Owner/Manager
How was last season in the snowboard market?
Last season was quite low in snow in Western Europe. Combine this with shops still having stock from the post-covid boom meant preorders were a bit timid and seamed to have decreased globally from what we gathered.
With the recent overall price increases, have there been any positive developments in manufacturing, sourcing, or logistics?
For 2025-26 we are actually one of the rare brands who have seriously decreased their prices. This comes with our new strategy to become more competitive whilst still offering the highest quality gear this side of the galaxy has to offer (4-year guarantee / 0% delamination rate / unmatched finish).
What are the major trends you’re seeing with product pricing in the snowboard market?
It seems entry price boards are getting more expensive because of the price increase of raw materials. High-end boards are also getting more expensive. For core price models, where competition is fierce, things seem to stay pretty balanced.
E-commerce Vs. physical retail, how are you balancing both channels?
We work with both models. Some like buying online as it’s fast and easy (especially of they know what they want or have tested gear beforehand). Some like to visit shops and browse, but also get some advice and real human contact.
How are you supporting retailers to sell this category?
We try to explain to online big players to wait as much as possible before discounting as it messes up the market and it isn’t great for everyone’s margins. Special deals like Black Friday are very complicated for this as it takes place right before the season starts, just when the gear has landed in shops.
What unique brand messages are you focusing on for the 2025/2026 snowboard season?
For 2025-26, we will present a new brand logo! This comes with our will to move back to core values and reduce our line to core models. Accompanying this is a decrease in our prices, making our line more accessible and “democratic”. We also rearranged the collection to make it more comprehensible. A selection of twin boards each with a specific role and with added sizes. Then our range of powder/carving models, the “Stealth Edition” Powder Shapes which are three models (Drakkar, Marauder, Leviathan) all three with the same premium construction (including our ultra-fast Electra graphite base) and same graphics. And of course, our splitboard line which comes updated with fresh construction, graphics and black/yellow bases (and also more accessible prices). We are adding new sizes to the Artefact and Tundra (152 and 150 respectively).
SNOWBOARD SPECIFIC
What trends or developments are you seeing with regards to board construction, shapes, and general innovation? How is this shaping your 25/26 range?
Directional powder shapes are still very popular and gaining ground. The race for lighter and faster boards is on. Shape wise, I think there are still many possibilities to explore.
Anything new concerning sustainability and related products or construction you would like to highlight?
As since day one, we use many sustainable materials in our boards. Bamboo topsheets, bioplastic topsheets, recycled steel edges, flax, sustainable wood cores, zero-COV resin, biodegradable wax. We think it’s necessary.
Are you using any new materials in your hardware for 25/26? If so, what and why? We’re interested in anything new in inserts / edges / cores / sidewalls / glue / resin/ wood types / base material / top sheet / wax / etc.
We use premium grade materials only and often more sustainable alternatives whenever possible.
Any new design or pattern approaches in your 25/26 gear? Any collabs on the line?
Accompanying our new logo, we updated the construction and graphics of all the models in the line. The trend is more flashy colours, modern and futuristic patterns whilst keeping traditional elements, visible wood cores and classic bamboo topsheets on key models.
Are you planning to focus on a special product range or type of customers? What’s your newest range?
Our line caters for all market layers, from occasional riders looking for quality all-mountain twins, to mountain dwellers looking for the next ultimate premium carving machine.
Key Products:
Tundra:
Best-seller of the line since 2015, the Tundra is our all-mountain weapon of mass powder dispersion. It just works well everywhere: piste, park, powder, backcountry freestyle. You name it, it will do it. Built on our classic Camrock profile, it’s accessible yet aggressive when it needs to. It’s epic-looking thanks to its real bamboo topsheet and it carry Borealis ‘s classic Tundra landscape graphics. Guaranteed to sell out.
Artefact:
Since it was reshaped two years ago, the Artefact has quickly gathered a solid following. This actually makes a lot of sense: a directional twin, all-mountain/freeride board is what many people ride. It’s also versatile enough to take them throughout the whole mountain: piste, freeride, side hits and even park. The Artefact is the kind of board that is immediately intuitive and balanced as soon as you strap in. It initiates turns easily, once reaching high speeds it carves incredibly well, making you feel you can really go for it. And in powder, it just works really well, the tip keeps you on the surface, the DS4001 base is faster than any other board of the same category. It feels great. A top seller in the line.
Auriga One:
Launched last season, the Auriga One is our direction twin (fish-shaped tail) freestyle meets powder/carving dream board. Ever wanted a powder board which can carve but also send tricks in the park and target side hits? Well here it is. The Auriga One (part of our new Auriga Series) does just that. And it became a team favourite overnight! Built on our Directional Camrock profile, it lays trenches and slashes pow with confidence and attitude. Enter the park, it releases its power and sends you to stratospheric heights. Seek and destroy side hits thanks to the medium flex and lightning-fast DS4001 base which will leave your friends and skiers way behind. For 2025-26 it comes with super fresh new graphics (glossy white topsheet with yellow-orange windows on the core).
