Competition Underway At WSL Rip Curl Anglet Pro 2021
The Rip Curl Pro Anglet 2021 is off to a great start, with conditions in the surfers’ favour, both in and out of the water. 2021 Rip Curl Pro Anglet Gets Underway in the French Basque Country

The 2021 QS1,000 Rip Curl Pro Anglet is officially underway with the first heats of the men’s event in the water since yesterday,10 a.m (local time). Conditions in the 1-to-2 foot range with clean offshore winds and a beautiful summer day in Anglet are everything organizers hoped for to get the action going.
“We have clean little waves this morning breaking all over the Chambre d’Amour beach so we’re pleased to get our surfers in the water early,” Rob Gunning, WSL Europe Tour Manager said. “We’re looking at a very difficult forecast for the entire week of the waiting period unfortunately so every breaking wave will be taken advantage of. That’s why we have decided to use a split-banks system with two heats in the water simultaneously on two different peaks.”
The Rip Curl Pro Anglet is the first Qualifying Series event in the region counting for the 2021/22 season and the 120-men and 56-women fields are stacked with the very best European surfers.
Event officials hope to complete 36 heats over the first day of competition, both of the men and women opening rounds.

Rip Curl Pro Anglet Press Session
The official Rip Curl Pro Anglet press session will be hosted on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 6 p.m at the Espace de l’océan. Surfers Pauline Ado (FRA), Teresa Bonvalot (PRT) and Kyllian Guerin (FRA) will be available alongside Anglet Mayor Claude Olive, Rip Curl Europe president Mathieu Lefin and WSL Europe’s Cheyne Bradburn.
