Dakine FW20/21 Men's Outerwear Preview

What new fits / silhouettes are coming next year? What pant and jacket styles are most important in your range?
Any *NEW* technical stories concerning fabrics and materials?
New to the line is the Vapor Jacket. The Vapor Jacket is a GORE-TEX 2L with Mechanical Stretch plain weave face fabric. The Vapor has a longer fit and a classic outdoor design with modern updates and features: Wrist gaiter, Media compatible chest pocket, Mesh lined 2-way zip under arm vents, Goggle Wipe and YKK® AquaGuard® water resistant zippers. The Vapor comes in two colourways.

Legion Jacket is also a longer fit with a late 90’s design influence. The Legion comes in 3 colourways.

The flagship Gearhart Jacket featuring Gore-Tex 3-layer with C-knit backing comes in an updated red colourway, “Spice”. I designed it with both an ergonomic articulation which wraps around the upper back, shoulders and arms and a 3D panelling style construction in the body. These help create a fit that mirrors the body’s natural three-dimensional shape. With the addition of a lightweight Gore face fabric and the fluid-like flexibility of the C-Knit backing, it moves with the body, not restricting it. Of all my designs, this is the piece I’m most proud of.

Any has-been trends that your brand is moving away from?
We have passed on most of the fleeting trends and gimmicks we see out there for many reasons, I won’t get into details… Basically, we see most of these for what they are, trends or gimmicks to stand out. We would rather put those costs into priority needs like higher end materials and construction, and not waste them on needless fidget spinners or the likes.

What are your top marketing stories for next season? This will help us to put some focus in the right place.
I’m not sure, but I’m rocking the Legion Jacket in Olive Ashcroft Camo and I’m stoked on it. I designed this piece with influence pulled from late 90’s and early 00’s. These were very progressive times for Snowboarding and Free skiing. The sports were merging and growing together and on their own, it was an exciting time in the industry.
