What are the main customers’ demands when buying a technical snow pack?
The customers are usually looking for durability. They want their pack able to endure an intensive usage and be able to last several seasons. In most of our back packs we use ultra high density 100% recycled polyester which make the bag ultra resistant with a reduced environmental impact.
The fit is also super important for snow packs. It has been adjusted to stay close to your body in order not to disturb your ride. That’s why at Dakine we develop fit for men, women and kids with a specific ergonomics matching specific body shapes.
The comfort is ultra important too, our customers want to be able to carry their pack all day long when they are riding. Our bags feature padded shoulder straps and breathable molded back panel for maximum comfort.
Last but not least, the pack has to be well organized with appropriate compartments for all the essentials you have to bring with you in the mountain. Fleece lined pocket for your goggles, hydration compartment, storage for your snow tools, shovel & probe, snowboard and ski carry system, etc … It is a real plus if the packs is versatile and can be worn for lifestyle usage too. Most of our packs features compartments able to carry safely your laptop.
What were your best sellers in 2023/24 and why?
Our best seller is the Heli Pro. It is an iconic product in the technical back pack world, Dakine has in a way revolutionized the snow pack vision when creating the Heli pack more than 25 years ago. Since then, our Heli Series have kept on improving to match the customers’ needs and evolving trends providing all the functionalities needed matched with this iconic Dakine style. Compact, comfortable, durable, versatile and functional, the Heli pro has everything needed for a great snow pack.
In which type of pack do you expect your biggest growth?
We do see a great growth potential in our Poacher series. This is the most advanced and technical back pack. It is built for heavy backcountry usage, it features all the functionalities needed for it. The capacities allow to carry all the essentials needed for big days in the powder and is compatible with key security accessories for back country riding: Airbag System, DK impact spine protector, radio handset. Very functional, the construction gives easy access to all items when needed.. The bag is promoted by our Dakine team riding big mountains and is also the official bag of the Natural Selection.
What are the technical highlights of your 2024/25 collection?
Our 24/25 collection is built in 3 series of bags, the Poacher, the Heli and the Mission. All those packs are built for maximum comfort and an ideal fit for riding while wearing it.The padded shoulder straps, the ventilated molded back panel, the adjustable waist and sternum strap give an ergonomic adjustable fit. The conception of all of our bags ensures an easy access to any items needed during our sessions. On the poacher, compatibility with security devices is key.
What materials are you using in your 2024/25 collection? Any new ones?
All of our bags are made out of 100% recycled Nylon or100% recycled Polyester. YKK zips are also important, it’s a quality pledge.
