Retail Buyers Guide: Snowboards 2022/23 Retail Buyer’s Guide
Brand: DC
Interviewee: Manu Labadie, Marketing Manager
Everyone has been affected by impacts from Covid-19 in one way or another. Have you had to change manufacturing or sourcing processes and can you explain any good examples of how your business has pivoted effectively?
The covid crisis has forced us to rethink some of our product development processes and has also allowed us to be more concerned about the environment.
What’s your company doing to improve its carbon footprint/eco consciousness?
At DC, we strive to be more sustainable in everything that we do. In 2022 we’ve ramped up our efforts to minimize waste and conserve resources throughout our entire product line. All DC boards are made at The Mothership, the world’s first 100% clean energy snowboard production facility. And we continue to improve our outerwear line by implementing game-changing technical fabrics like recycled polyester, Symptex and Polylana®. Add in 100% recycled packaging and hang tags, and the end result is our most eco-friendly product line to date.
What about shapes? Anything new for 22/23? Does anything remain unexplored, or are there still advances to be made in shaping specifically?
The EMB isn’t just an “Every Man’s Board”, it’s an every mountain board. The skate-inspired snap of our lock & load camber and the super-pressable flex of the biax glass layup give it free reign in any terrain. As part of our winter 22/23 artist series, we will worked with selected artist to highlight and pay homage to skate inspiration values .The PBJ has been a staple in our line-up since the beginning, and our team riders help fine tune it year after year to make sure it’s the most fun board on the mountain. The true twin is designed to dominate everything from technical street riding to pro-level park features. With the edge control and added pop of traditional camber, combined with the buttery soft flex of our stratus core, the PBJ is ready to play on any terrain. We will also provide a limited artist serie of this board . Stay tuned .
Please tell us about the dominant visual themes in your 22/23 gear, including any interesting artist collabs you have lined up.
Following collaborations for season 21/22 with artists Jeff Mc Millan, Paul Jackson and Nick Pourfar , We will continue to have some artist collab on snowboards
Park? Freeride? All-mountain? where will your primary focus be in 22/23, and how much has that changed since 21/22?
