Retail Buyers Guide: Snowboards 2022/23 Retail Buyer’s Guide
Brand: Easy Snowboards
Interviewee: Nico, Co - Owner
Everyone has been affected by impacts from Covid-19 in one way or another. Have you had to change manufacturing or sourcing processes and can you explain any good examples of how your business has pivoted effectively?
The last slow season gave us time to think about the next step collection and we got time to do some brain storming then we decide to move out the collection some models like Native and Cubism and give more importance to others like Dawn or Origin. We did a lot of changes more high hand materials changing all the woodcore ,bases , more quality with always a gentle price.
Carry-over was a hot topic for 21/22 boards. Where did your brand sit on the matter and has this changed for 22/23?
We always did carry over on powder guns and some freeride like mystic hillside and Dawn since the beginning to help shops to sell this range of product then we didn’t have to do big changes and no matter for us .
The bricks and mortar model is changing rapidly. How are you working with retailers and your ecommerce channel to ensure as little conflict as possible?
Our purpose is to work properly respecting online prices and we always got a priority to survive in this really competitive market together with retailers that support us . Without physical shop snowboard culture will disappear for sure .
What’s your company doing to improve its carbon footprint/eco consciousness?
The last two years we did a lot of changes on materials , wood core are FSC and all resin are Bio , we used some top sheet and recycling bases and a lot of basalt ( volcanic stone ) mixed with carbon instead of pure carbon stripe . we are lucky that factories , forwarder and shipper are always thinking about less foot print carbon action we almost try to find the right partners with the best eco consciousness.
Are you using any new materials in your hardware for 22/23? If so, what, and why? We’re interested in anything new in inserts / edges / cores / sidewalls / glue / resin/ wood types / base material etc here.
We did a version of the Nomad with a mellow EASY grip and add material between edge and wood core to reduce impact; introduce stronger woodcore with a spine of spruce and Beech and recycle bases too.
What about shapes? Anything new for 22/23? Does anything remain unexplored, or are there still advances to be made in shaping specifically?
We did one modification on the Nomad ltd Shape provide to the board a diamond nose and tail . we wanted to offer the opportunity to people that prefer to ride our mellow easy grip to test this model.
What new items do you have that are specifically aimed at entry level? Has this increased/decreased due to COVID-19? Please also mention anything new that’ll be aimed at the youth market.
Our entrance level range is still there, there is 4 nice boards under 400 € like the wall ride, pink torsion, black torsion and skull with high hand material in and we got a cool board for kids too a true board to help them to progress in good condition.
Prices: Which area of the market do you primarily cater to, price-wise? Have you revisited this after the uncertainty of this past winter?
Since the beginning we want to offer the best quality price we can to our customers and for the moment we make it happen.
Please tell us about the dominant visual themes in your 22/23 gear, including any interesting artist collabs you have lined up
With the help of all the crew of designer of Ultro ( Antoine, Julien and Thomas ) this 22/23 collection is amazing , modern , fresh and with a lot of pureness !
Park? Freeride? All-mountain? where will your primary focus be in 22/23, and how much has that changed since 21/22?
We added a Split board this year- we developed a split version of the Peak board, this is a split you can ride as a regular board even twin if you want and it has been a good success , fortunately we have a big range , 20 boards covering all the areas
Best Sellers/Hero products
Nomad
Our Best seller since 7 years. This is a true all mountain that people could use on every terrain and everyday all season in any condition of snow, the board got a good grip and good pop too and at the same time it’s still play full. We put a lot of technology in this board too, as a grip for hard snow and a double camber (Easy2rock) giving you pop and aggressivity when you want or when you need it . A good board to progress and to enjoy the ski resort mountains.
Peak
A freeride board that you can ride twin or back set when you need , this board give you a lot of security in very difficult terrain and in deep powder , the mellow Easy grip and his camber give him all you need during your big day of Freeride and backcountry tricks.
Skull is our best seller freestyle board and the favorite of our rider because it works in street and park with precision and power , we adjust the pop camber and material to obtain the perfection last season ; this what people use to say !
