MARKET
How is the European skate footwear market from your perspective?
I think the skate specific footwear market is a small niche, but there seems opportunities in creating lifestyle shoes that can also be skated in.
Currently what are the major trends?
The current trend at the moment is vintage court inspired aesthetics. We have a shoe we introduced in Spring 2025 called The Loot which has been getting really good feedback.
MARKETING
What stories are you pushing this season?
Skate Classics will be the main focus for FW25. This collection was the definition of the golden era of 90s skateboarding and consists of The Snake, The Scam, Sal 23 and the re-introduction of the original Locut.
What are your collection themes for FW25?
The FW season usually uses a dark themed color palette, but we updated a lot of our navy, olive, earthtones, burgundy shades to be a bit more on trend. We are also using some hairy suede in the Sal23 and Barge LS collection to make it a bit more premium.
DESIGN
What design trends are you noticing for this season?
The classic retro trend is huge at the moment. Luckily for etnies, we have a catalog of shoes we’ve done in the mid 90’s like Classic Skate shoes I mentioned above.
Any brand collaborations?
We are partnering up with Apache Skateboards and The Keep a Breast Foundation. These will be released in October for Indigenous Peoples’ Day and breast cancer awareness month.
Does your footwear brand have a sustainable element? Vegan shoes?
This season we offer The Marana and The Snake which use a synthetic suede.
Must have styles for FW25?
I’d say it depends on the individual. For a skate lifestyle shoe, the Locut is a great choice. For me, I love the Sal23 for that retro skate performance look.
