Eurosima Surf Summit, Seignosse, October 3-4
The Action sports industry from across Europe will gather at Belambra Club Les Estagnots de Seignosse for the 18th edition of the Eurosima Surf Summit, under the theme of “Inventing the Industry of Tomorrow.” Launched in 2002, this annual event aims to inspire and to look at all things action sports, with speakers over the two days sharing their knowledge and experiences. The summit will be opened at 9.30am by new Eurosima president, Jean-Louis Rodrigues.
The first presentation will be by photographer and adventurer Maurice
Rebeix on the value of unity. He will examine unity as a factor of cohesion that overrides the diversity of individuals and if lost, could endanger the very future of our species. Next up is a women’s surf panel with four times World Champion, Lisa Andresen, professional longboarder, Zoe Grospiron, Roxy Global Brand Manager, Emilie Souvras, and WSL Deputy Commissioner and Director of Athlete Development, Jessi Miley-Dyer. A number of different women’s topics will be discussed as well as the audience having the opportunity to question the panel. After lunch Pascal Monfort, Fashion Expert and founder of REC trends marketing will look at the early adopters in the outdoor and action sports markets and how to seduce, inspire and impact “early adopter” consumers in the key global cities (London, Paris, New York, Tokyo, Shanghai). To round the day off Frédéric Tain, Speaker & Director of sport-guide.com and Adam Hall, Head of Sustainability at Internet Fusion and Surfdome will look at brand and shop values and services that add meaning to the act of consumption.
The second day starts with Charles Pages, former pro athlete and current FMX consultant speaking about his experience after a serious accident in 2010, which ended his career and how with long-term physical therapy and true perseverance he managed to come back and once again reach elite level. Next up is sommelier and speaker Christophe Boisselier on how our senses influence our daily lives and how to detect what manipulates your senses in your personal and professional life. After lunch on Friday, Vincent Colliard a French polar explorer and great adventurer will talk about the vulnerability of the ice caps in a presentation entitled ‘White Bear and Polar Explorer, Two Endangered Species.’ The final presentation of the summit will see David Richard Sport France Director at the NPD Group offer us a sneak peak at the latest figures of the study on a scope of activities for boardsports brands. In the conference hall during the Surf Summit, EuroSIMA will present the 6th edition of the Surfing Lounge exhibition, a selection of the most innovative products and services in the action sports sector, highlighting the know-how, creativity and dynamism of its members.
The Waterman’s Ball will take place on Friday in the evening of the last day of the Surf Summit conference. Starting at 7pm at the Hossegor Casino, this year’s theme of “Coquillages et crustacés” (shellfish and crustaceans) will mean we can all get costume creative. The Waterman’s Ball will also host the Surf Industry Awards that with the European male and female surfers of the year and rookie of the year and the Action Sports product of the year. The Surf Summit will be held at the same time as the opening of the Quiksilver & Roxy Pro France, so a great opportunity for the industry to watch the best surfers on the planet as well as hook up with friends and enjoy the Waterman’s Ball.
