The winners of various categories at the London Surf/Film Festival 2019 x Vans have now been announced. The ninth edition of the festival held between October 09 and October 12, 2019, had on display some of international surfing’s hottest releases, independent features, and UK premieres plus the pick of short film productions from homegrown surf filmmakers. Surfing is a global community and it’s always great to have an excuse to come together and celebrate the culture we’re privileged to be part of. And so, it was in the spirit of Good Vibes, Good Rides and Good Times that the 9th Annual London Surf/Film Festival x Vans touched down in the heart of the capital, bringing the to the UK the very cream of contemporary surf culture and the creatives behind it.
Alongside five nights of packed out premieres, LS/FF hosted special audiences with the stars of the surf and screen, including the likes of Alex Knost, Lee-Ann Curren, Rick Wall, Dougal Paterson, Spencer Frost, Chris McClean, CJ Mirra, Lewis Arnold plus live music, good times and more captured by festival artist in residence The Cunning Craftsman.
“Once again we were stoked to work with some of the most exciting creatives across the globe to curate a line-up of premieres that reflect the broad spectrum of waveriding and the very best of our culture here and now,” explains LS/FF co-founder Chris Nelson. “We brought to the big screen premieres like White Rhino exploring the biggest days ever ridden, A Corner of the Earth celebrating the spirit of exploration and Zone Frequency showcasing the next level of stylish, cutting edge wavesliding alongside the best of The Shorties the strand we established to showcase standout homegrown filmmaking talents. The immersive, live audio-visual experiment Translate from CJ Mirra & Chris McClean we hosted to close this year’s festival will live long in the memory.”
