HOURS IS YOURS SKATE FOOTWEAR S/S 2025 PREVIEW
Retail Buyers Guide: Skate Footwear S/S 2025 Retail Buyers Guide
Brand: Hours is Yours
Interviewee: Lukas Steidle - Sales Manager Europe
How was the European skate footwear market last year?
We’re looking back on a tough year for retail overall. Especially the skate footwear segment has been hit hard due to the ongoing inventory situation of retailers struggling with hardgoods overstock and as a result missing cashflow & order budget. Accounts have become less keen to experiment with their available budgets which has resulted in a more condensed buying pattern in terms of brands but also throughout their SKU selection. For us this has lead to a very clear sales pattern lead by a range of top sellers such as the Cohiba or the Code V2. As a consequence, we have trimmed down the collection with a focus on our key styles instead of trying to cover too many different facets and get off the path of what our core strength & USP represents.
How is it faring so far this year?
It seems like the retail space is starting to recover from a few difficult years and we are slowly seeing positive signals for both prebook and sell thru. At the same time a couple of independent footwear brands are entering the game which is refreshing to see. We are hoping to witness even more engagement with brands rooted in core skateboarding and remain curious how things develop throughout 2025.
