Dragon Eyewear The Rob Machado Resin Collection
Dragon Eyewear, a globally recognized performance eyewear brand with deep ties to the action sports world, today announced the launch of their new resin collection designed in collaboration with longtime Dragon athlete and surf legend Rob Machado.
Beginning this Fall 2019, select new and key best-selling Dragon sunglasses and ophthalmic frames will be designed using unique colorations inspired by Machado’s creative passion for surfboard shaping and the visually stunning colors and materials used in his craft.
A legendary pro surfer and celebrated surfboard shaper, Machado is a lifelong ambassador for the sport who has gradually channeled more and more of his boundless energy and creativity into shaping boards for surfers around the world.
“Having been a part of the Dragon team for over 15 years, it is a cool evolution to have my board designs inspire this signature eyewear collection,” said Machado. “Blending my resin tints with Dragon’s eco-friendly materials to create this collection really represents who I am.”
Dragon utilized a special hand-painted technique under a crystal-clear overlay to emulate Machado’s resin design. All of the frames in The Rob Machado Resin Collection will be produced using Dragon’s new eco-friendly, plant-based resin material and feature the brand’s proprietary, color optimized Lumalens® sun technology.
Dragon’s Fall 2019 campaign offers a glimpse into Machado’s world of surfboard-shaping and a behind-the-scenes look at the process of designing this collaboration – from sketchbook drawings to the swirling of the resin color palette. His style is truly unmatched and is the perfect complement to Dragon’s Fall 2019 collection.
The Rob Machado Resin Collection will be an on-going collaboration between Dragon and the legendary surfer, furthering the brands commitment to supporting the artistry or their brand athletes — creating the fusion of art and performance.
This Fall 2019 signature collection is comprised of eight sunglass styles and two ophthalmic frames and will be available beginning October 1st worldwide at select Dragon specialty retailers and at dragonalliance.com.
