How was the 2024 boardshort market?
The boardshort category is growing at Oxbow. We are back in the water as a recognized brand and our clients expect more and more variety, technicity and durability.
How did you split your SS25 offering between carry overs and fresh pieces?
We do carry over our best seller solid shorts, and our high end timeless MAYARCO. The boardshort is colorful and vibrant category that lives with refreshed designs.
Are prices hindering the sell-out of boardshorts in a stressed out environment or are the customers willing to pay for quality? (surfers vs casual beach enthusiasts)
Our offer covers all type of surfers and needs: from the casual beach short to the 4-way stretch Infinite styles, via the versatile Expedition boardshorts.
What are the main design trends of SS25 for (surfing) boardshorts? (cuts, lengths, special features, closing systems…)
It is all about the perfect balance between stretch and durability. Eco-conception is the biggest trend: all of our boardshorts are made of Repreve post consumer recycled polyester, and we do offer styles made in Portugal, and even one made in France!!
Same question for walkshorts/beachshorts.
We are developing a new range, the “WEEKEND SHORTS”, hybrids all-round shorts. Designed to be worn in or out of the water, these shorts are versatile, comfortable, and quick-drying. The most versatile shorts, to use everywhere in all situations, for all uses. Comfort and functionality combined with eco-responsibility are our main focus.
How did you translate these trends in terms of colours/prints?
We are offering a wide range of prints this season with more diversity. We will start the season with some earth colors to have a smooth transition from winter to spring. We have mixed those earth colors with other brighter colors as the LIME or LILA to bring something different… The second part of the collection will have many bright and fresh color for the summer season. Many different blue, enhanced with yellow and coral to give some pop colors.
Which key fabrics/materials do you introduce for next summer?
4-way stretch Repreve polyester is our key fabric, with the addition this summer of a polycotton mix, for a softer handfeel and retro style. We are also proud to offer boardshort made of European fabrics!!

We are proud to introduce the Stoked boardshort ! Upcycled fabrics, 46% less fabric offcuts during production, entirely made in France : the result is -93% CO2 emissions compared to a conventional boardshort. High end lightweight 4-way stretch fabric, seamless technology, fitted belt, minimal design : no compromise between performance and the planet !
MENAKOZ-BS :
20’ length, zippered hand pockets, ripstop fabric, easily packable in its back pocket, this boardshort is the perfect ally for our next adventure. And guess what, the fabric is from Italy and the short is crafted in Portugal : surf local !
WIPEOUT-BS :
This boardshort is part of our new Infinite Boardshorts range. Modern design, infinite comfort. This boardshort is made of a REPREVE recycled polyester. The 4way stretch fabric allows a wide range of motion and freedom in your movements. The quick drying properties keeps you dry and comfortable after getting out of water. A 360-degree lace at waistband provides you a custom fit for optimal comfort. Taped seams for durability and wear-resistance, it also eliminates any risk of friction and limits accumulation of sand in the seams to reduce irritation.
