Retail Buyers Guide: Womens Swimwear S/S 2025 Retail Buyer’s Guide
Brand: Oxbow
Interviewee: Thomas Chastol Product manager
What are the current industry trends in women’s swimwear?
There is a trend on the onepiece swimwear and globally on a vintage style. Of course, the swimwear should be comfy with a fashion trend. For example, we add in this season a trikini. That’s the meeting point on a vintage swimwear and a super trendy swimwear.
Which styles sold best in 2024 collection and which do you expect to grow in 2025?
We sold lots of classic bikini bottom with ties on sides to adjust as wanted and also with pleat on butocks. Regarding top bikini our best seller is a bralette with a low neckline for the women practicing water activities. We want to grow in SS25 with one piece swimwear with different support and light to full coverage bottom.
What have been the major inspirations behind the designs in the 2025 range?
This season we wanted to offer a wider range of shape, fitting with all women silhouete. As a surf brand, you have to be able to match with different needs, from the bikini to maximise your tanning, to the full support one for the practice. On top of the shape point, we also focused on our design, offering lots of different fabric texture, from simple printed fabric to gingham and other jacquard technics.
What colour palettes and prints will we find in your 2025 range? Any crossovers from other brand product categories?
Of course the swimwear range matches our lifestestyle collection, with first earth and warm colours for the transitional theme after winter. We then find pop and brighter colours for full summer.
What silhouettes are you featuring in your 2025 collection? Any construction techniques you’d like to highlight?
Our silhouettes are featuring all mix and match possibilities between our two main marketing stories and of course between different shapes. For instance, we have 5 different bralet bikini top going from the most cheeky bandeau to the full support bralet for the practice. Talking about performance doesn’t mean forgetting the design part. Indeed with have a full support bralet with a nice jacquard relief fabric in terry towel.
What materials are you using in your 2025 collection?
Either recycled polyester or recycled polyamide, with elastane. Of course, the fabric is also UPF protected.
What efforts are you making towards sustainability?
Not only all of our range is made with sustainable fabrics but also 25% of the collection is made with a French fabric and produce in Tunisia. Being a B corp company, we are more than involved in increasing the part of sustainable product. Oxbow vision is also to produce more locally when possible. For instance, we developed a style with upcycled French fabric. That’s mean we went to our fabric supplier to pick up fabric left over and design the style with the team other there. The result is a wonderful colorblock with different texture onepiece style.
What are your marketing stories for your 2025 collection?
First story is Zebu Surf Collective in Madagascar. Also called the red island, we find warm and earth colours with also primitive printed artworks. We also feature lots of different texture in fabrics to create colorblocks like nails of traditional boats other there. Then second story is Brazilian Vibration with our surf ambassador Laure Mayer. She will meet local surf community and explore how important the surf is in their lives. In term of graphics, we found a wide range of pop colours as it’s full summer, playing a lot with a contrasting picture of the lush vegetation and the colorblock favelas to the fancy artwork on urban promenades near the beach.
