ANGLET, France (Tuesday, March 26, 2019) – The World Surf League (WSL) is excited to announce that Deeply has signed on as Title Sponsor for the 2019 and 2020 DEEPLY PRO ANGLET, a Qualifying Series (QS) event in South-West France.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Deeply on board with us in Anglet,” Cheyne Bradburn, WSL Europe representative said. “After four editions, the event is now ready to grow. This new partnership with Deeply will help the event step up to the next level, and I’m confident the DEEPLY PRO ANGLET will become one of our biggest events in France and Europe in the near future.”

“We have always been ambitious about the future we see for this event,” Bradburn continued. “We want to grow this event over time and make it a major stop, Deeply came to us wanting to grow their brand, and I’m confident our collective efforts can make both these realities.”

“In 2018, Deeply opened its online shop, pop-up stores in Hossegor and San Sebastian, and grew its team with French athletes Maxime Huscenot and Uhaina Joly,” Head of Marketing Ricardo Aragão stated. “The strategy for 2019 reinforces our action plan and includes our partnership with WSL to support the DEEPLY PRO ANGLET as title sponsor.”

“Our athletes were unanimous last year in praising this iconic event for the unique environment, the atmosphere, the waves, the night surf specialty event and all the activations,” Aragão continued. “We couldn’t be more excited to celebrate our brand’s 15-year anniversary in 2019 with this partnership with World Surf League. We’ll also launch a new pop-up store in a premium location in Hossegor and create many inter-actions between the store and the Deeply Pro Anglet, which we’ll start unveiling soon.”

“The Basque country is rich in culture and beautiful landscapes and Anglet is one of my favorite spots in the region to surf,” Maxime Huscenot, Deeply Team Rider said. “It’s great to see Deeply commit to support the Deeply Pro Anglet for a couple of years, I’m sure it’ll make this event even bigger and better. I’m supper happy to represent my main sponsor in their event and I hope I can put on a good performance.”

Fifth Edition Promises Exciting Action In and Out of the Water
Anglet hosted the very first edition in firing conditions back in 2015 and the event has since then continued to build its reputation, making it one of the athletes’ favourites among the European summer leg.

Pristine conditions in the water, state-of-the-art infrastructures for surfers and fun activations for the public around the site make for an unforgettable experience in the heart of the French Basque Country each summer.

The first four editions witnessed highly competitive battles from some of the best surfers in the world, with past and current Championship Tour athletes taking out the prestigious titles over the years. Local star Pauline Ado, Coco Ho, Claire Bevilacqua, Wade Carmichael have all added their names to the A-list of previous winners, and last year’s edition saw a shift with rising stars Gatien Delahaye and Zahli Kelly dominating the fields.

Deeply has centred its activity in the development and retail of wetsuits, alongside the creation of fashion and beachwear apparel. Deeply has also built a network of surf schools counting 11 in Portugal, 3 in Spain and 6 in France. The brand has become a market leader in Portugal in wetsuit usage and expanded its activity to 26 European countries through its online store at www.deeply.com.

Born from the ocean, Deeply’s connection to the environment is undeniable. The company commits to producing more respectful products, and cleaning their processes along the way: beach cleanings, plastic use reduction, reuse of production surplus fabrics, and use of organic cotton in its garments are a few of many contributions to a sustainable economy.

The Portuguese brand has built its profile in recent years by supporting athletes, men and women, of all ages and disciplines. The likes of Maxime Huscenot, Vasco Ribeiro or Lucia Martino have found a connection with the brand and their products to help them perform on tour. This support and collaboration grants Deeply the credibility and trust in face of core surf targets. It is this partnership that allows the brand to develop wetsuits that deliver the features surfers look for, no matter the level of expertise and gender.

The natural evolution for Deeply was to support an event, which is the platform for their athletes to shine.

Local Support Continues to Help Grow the Event
The very first Pro Anglet came to life from a collective desire of the World Surf League and the city of Anglet to bring professional surfing back to the shores of this iconic seaside resort town. Since then, the city has reaffirmed its support which promises a bright future to the Deeply Pro Anglet.
