Doodah, Geneva, Swiss, Snowboard

This week we look forward to the winter season with snowboard and skate shop Doodah from Geneva, Switzerland.  They’re extremely confident of a great winter for 2012/2013.  For more of their positivity and views on how to make the most out of your store; read on.

Age of Shop (years trading):

We will celebrate 10th anniversary this year!

Brands Stocked:

So many! Just to list a few: Carhartt, Volcom, Burton, Obey and Nikita. Swiss brands like Zimtstern, Atreebutes and Freitag. Last but not least the products from our own doodah line.

What percentage of your sales are from online business compared to your in-store sales?

10% of our sales are online. We just started. So we have some definite room to improve.

What are the benefits of having a physical shop over simply having an online store?

You can actually touch the products and try them on. With the face to face contact you can see the smile of happy customers Where else would we hang out and watch the newest snowboard movie?

What makes your store different and in what ways does your store excel beyond your competition?

We try always to do our best!

1) Customer Service

2) Large and deep choice of products

3) New upcoming brands that make the difference.  At the end it’s up to the customers to decide.

What trends do you see upcoming in snow?

Fun is back!
Gipsy style, post-hippie.                                                                                                                               Slim pants are always strong.

Which up and coming brand or brands do you hope to stock in the future?

Dinosaurs will Die, Artec and Signal.

What are you doing to pull people into your store?

We believe that doing a good job in the shop will be heard in the streets through happy customers. Besides that, we try to give back as much as possible to the scene as possible with contests, sponsoring events and a team, parties and  art exhibitions. Of course nowadays we use social media platforms like Facebook to get our friends and customers stoked about what’s going on in and around the shop so they just have to come visit us.

How confident are you for the coming winter?

Very! We have these crazy ass farmers from far up the mountains who predict the long term weather (Muotathaler Wetterschmöker)

From sitting in an anthill he told us that this is going to be a very heavy winter. So we stocked up and are ready. The storm that hit Swiss retail last year has changed a lot in our industry but calmer water seem to lay ahead.

What items are you most stoked on in upcoming lines and why?

The Nike Snowboard boot line because of its simplicity, design and comfort. The Devun Walsh DC Snowboard has left a deep impression, when we tested it last year. We can’t wait to hop on it and ride again.

Please tell us of any upcoming initiatives your shop has planned? (events, signings, re-vamps etc…)

We will host a kick as 10 year anniversary party and the movie premier of the Absinth movie Resonance. We will continue our partnership with the Les Crosets Snowboard park and hold a snowboard event later in the winter. And for the connoisseur: we will launch a new deck in our doodah model series with Karlie Kloss.
