Rock A Rail Returns To The Hague, Netherlands

Rock A Rail is due to return on December 1, 2018 to the city of The Hague, Netherlands. The event is presented by Red Bull and Blue Tomato in association with Volcom and GoPro, invited pro snowboarders, local riders and two wild cards will battle it out on the street rail set up for the chance to win part of the €6000 prize pot.

Press Release: Rock A Rail, the number one snowboard event of the lowlands returns! Snow is falling early in the Netherlands this year. Building on the success of past years, one of the world’s finest rail jams is back for its seventh anniversary. At December first, thousands of spectators are expected to fill the “Grote Markt” in down town The Hague.

Right in the city center, a custom, one-of-a-kind urban set-up will be constructed over a two-storey scaffolding frame. Featuring the most provocative obstacles imaginable, the possibilities are endless. The street set up is covered by locally produced snow from The Uithof snow dome. Spectators will witness the jibbers battling it out for a share of the 6000-euro prize purse. With international invitees Benny Milam (USA) and Sparrow Knox (ENG) lining up alongside local heroes Cheryl Maas and Cees Wille, the riders are sure to make the most of the amazing set up.

The competition starts Saturday at 16:00, with the finals expected around 21:00. After the prize giving, the crowd switches into party mode with three different after-parties. The whole weekend is packed with side events, kicking off on Thursday (November 29th) with the Blue Tomato “last show down”qualification for those not invited (two wild cards) during a jam session in the Uithof. Friday there will be a Volcom winter kick off pre-party. There are meet & greets, sweep stakes and for those not getting tired an after shred going down on Sunday in Absolute Park (Austria!).

The Hague is an obvious choice to boast possibly the sickest urban snowboard event ever to be seen, presented by Red Bull and Blue Tomato in association with Volcom and GoPro. The Dutch government city The Hague is not only the international center of peace and justice, it’s also a great urban playground with many skateboarders, surfers and snowboarders. We want to introduce (urban)snowboarding to as wide an audience as possible with a focus on progression of the sport. A never seen combination of obstacles provides the perfect opportunity for riders to showcase their creativity, keep the hardcore shred fans happy and provide an amazing spectacle for the crowds as well.

Anyone near The Netherlands can come and watch – for free.
