House Of Vans To Host Sean Cliver And Todd Bratrud’s Exhibition – Paper To Print

House of Vans will host Sean Cliver and Todd Bratrud’s 52-day long skateboard art exhibition with the opening night event set to take place tomorrow (September 05). From a DJ set by DJ Douggpound to the screening of Dumb, the Patrick O’Dell directed documentary about the rise and fall of the skateboarding magazine Big Brother, the launch will set the tone for the following two days of events and the exhibition itself.

Press Release: Iconic artists Sean Cliver & Todd Bratrud are showcasing a unique skateboard art exhibition in House of Vans’ tunnel one gallery space. From their early years to the present day, the exhibition presents a collection of the original artwork behind some of Cliver and Bratrud’s favourite board graphics, displayed next to the matching skateboards. Alongside the Gallery launch, there’ll be an 8 pm screening of Dumb: The Story of Big Brother Magazine (18+); a documentary film showcasing the boundary-pushing, taboo-breaking, crassly-humorous Big Brother magazine that spawned MTV’s Jackass and a generation of skaters. Following the launch, Lovenskate will host a workshop on Saturday 7th September for guests to customise Cliver & Bratrund prints onto free Vans giveaways. The workshop is free and no booking is required. The Paper To Print exhibition is free and will be open to the public until October 27th.

The opening night on September 05 will be followed by Sk8 Fry-Days and a screen printing workshop

About: A screen-printing workshop hosted by Lovenskate where attendees will be able to customise Cliver & Bratrud prints on free Vans giveaways.

Todd Bratrud (@toddbratrud):
Todd Bratrud is an illustrator and artist born in 1975 in Crookston, Minnesota, on the same day as the wreck of the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald. He is the owner of Send Help skateboards, previously known as The High Five skateboards. Currently living in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota until he moved to Santa Cruz, California in 1999 to become the art director of Consolidated Skateboards until 2005. Since then he has created hundreds of graphics for skateboards, stickers, advertisements and apparel for companies like Teenage Runaway Urethane, Flip, Birdhouse, Enjoi, StrangeLove, Creature Skateboards, OJ Wheels, Zero as well as having designed over 15 Nike SB dunks from 2005 until present day.

Sean Cliver (@seancliver):
An American artist born in Wisconsin in 1969, Sean Cliver won a contest for an artist position at Powell-Peralta Skateboards in 1989, which lead to a long and tangled web of professional escapades over the next three decades, including a stint as editor of Big Brother skateboard magazine, a producer-type role on Jackass and Wildboyz, and an author of two books published by Gingko Press chronicling the history of skateboard art. He continues to work as an artist in the skateboard industry, creating graphics for assorted brands such as Supreme, Girl, HUF, and Element, as well as his own company StrangeLove.
