With an already wide range of lockable, tie down systems for SUPs, kayaks and surfboards, as well as key vaults for any car, Surf Hardware International is looking at expanding the range further into boardsports and the outdoor market.
Press Release: MONA VALE, Sydney – Surf Hardware International (SHI) is excited to announce the acquisition of the Kanulock brand, an Australian owned and operated business and a market leader in the lockable tie-down category.
The Kanulock brand was established in 2005 and after operating successfully in Australia for some time was launched into the USA market in 2014 and later through Europe via distributor arrangements.
The Kanulock lockable tie-down, brainchild of Clinton Hollier the company founder, is a premium lockable tie-down which allows Surfboards, SUP’s and Kayaks to be easily secured and locked to your roof-racks, giving the user the freedom to leave their board or kayak unattended and safe from theft.
Coupled with the patented tie-down products, is the Kanulock Key Vault which allows easy storage of car keys on any vehicle in a ‘mini safe’ equipped with a combination lock.
The addition of Kanulock to the existing portfolio of SHI brands which includes FCS, Gorilla, Softech and Hydro is part of a strategy designed to expand the business into the broader water board sports and fast growing outdoor & adventure markets. CEO of SHI, Michael Heath, had this to say about the latest addition to the company’s portfolio and future opportunities with the brand.
“We’re really excited about Kanulock and the potential of the brand. Clinton has done a tremendous job establishing a market leadership position for the brand in the premium lockable tie-down category. We see a number of opportunities to further grow the business including through international expansion, channel development and product line extensions”
In addition to pursuing the distribution growth opportunities SHI plans to expand upon the existing product range offering the consumer a broader range of Kanulock products.
“Outside of the surf speciality channel, the business has established distribution in a number of key outdoor & adventure accounts across Australia and the USA which we believe we can further develop and grow.”
Hollier will continue on with the business through its transition to SHI and is pleased to see the brand in good hands.
“I’m excited about the opportunities for the Kanulock brand given the support of SHI’s distribution network and product development and marketing resources, and I look forward to the brands continued success”
Kanulock products will be available in all key water board sport and outdoor retailers globally through the SHI distribution network.
