World Surf League To Open New Regional Office In Lisbon

Despite widely reported rumours that The World Surf League is to move its European HQ from Capbreton in South West France to Lisbon, Portugal, SOURCE can confirm the new Portuguese office will simply act as a  new regional office and not the new European HQ. The European HQ will remain in Hossegor, France.

An announcement was made during a Portuguese tourism activation in New York City, where WSL CEO Sophie Goldschmidt was in attendance along with the WSL’s Portuguese Rep, Francisco Spínola who told those gathered for the PR launch event that the WSL was going to continue in “positioning Portugal as the leading surfing country in Europe.” However, this comment was taken out of context and the WSL’s Cheyne Bradburn confirmed for SOURCE that the WSL is restructuring its presence in the region to an EMEA model, but that Hossegor will remain the European HQ,
